SHAUN McCRACKEN -  Junior Environmental Engineer

Shaun McCraken was trained as a Natural Resources Engineer in New Zealand. While studying in New Zealand he was employed as an intern with Heinz Watties Ltd, a large frozen vegetable processing company to undertake a water use and efficiency audit of their operations. The following summer he was employed by Smithbridge Construction as a site engineer to oversee the day to day construction of a four lane road bridge on State Highway 1, New Zealand.

Shortly after graduating he was hired by Connell Wagner Ltd, a large multinational consulting firm, as a graduate Civil / Environmental Engineer. Duties included stormwater system design, geotechnical investigation, infrastructure design, earthworks design and drafting. He also gained considerable experience consulting with clients, local and national authorities, interested and affected parties and contractors. A large proportion of this work was based around residential and industrial development.

After working for 18 months with Connell Wagner in New Zealand, Mr. McCracken transferred to the head company’s head office in Melbourne Australia. Duties were based around large scale residential development sites and upgrades of industrial areas within Melbourne.

Mr McCracken joined Sperling Hansen Associates (SHA) in early 2009 after taking a year out, travelling extensively throughout North America. His duties at SHA range from site investigation to detailed design and construction supervision.
